Frequently asked questions about GitReviewed
Everything you need to know before GitReviewed becomes your daily reviewer.
How does GitReviewed work?
Paste a pull or merge request URL, and our AI analyzes the changes, spotting bugs, security holes, and style issues. You'll get clear, inline suggestions you can accept with one click.
Does it work with both GitHub and GitLab?
Yes! Log in with either service and review public or private repos, with no setup headaches. For GitHub organization repositories, you will need admin approval to post comments OR provide a PAT.
Which programming languages are supported?
All major stacks: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, Rust, and more.
Does it work with private GitHub repos?
Absolutely. For private or organization repositories (even public ones), commenting via the GitReviewed app requires admin approval, or that you own the repository. Alternatively, providing a PAT lets you post review comments directly, without needing org admin approval.
What about private GitLab repos?
Yes, just make sure you have the right permissions for the repo, and you're set.
Why do I need to provide a GitHub Personal Access Token (PAT)?
Providing a PAT is optional. With OAuth, posting comments to pull requests in organization repositories (even public ones) requires approval from a repository admin. If you'd rather skip waiting for approval, you can give us your PAT, which lets us post review comments directly on your behalf. Your PAT is always encrypted and protected with strict access controls, and you can revoke it anytime in your GitHub settings.
Do you store my code?
No, we never store your code. We only process the specific diff in an isolated environment, and everything is purged after your review is done.
Who posts the review comments?
Feedback is posted as you, not a bot. Every comment comes from your account for real accountability and a human touch.
Why should I use GitReviewed over other code review tools?
GitReviewed gives you fast, unbiased, and customizable AI reviews for any PR, across GitHub, GitLab, and multiple languages. It fits your workflow, lets you control feedback style, and helps you catch issues before they slip through. It's not a human replacement, just a smarter, faster way to review.
Can I customize the review tone?
On the Pro plan, yes! Choose between Formal, Friendly, or even describe the style you want GitReviewed to use.
What happens if I hit my Free plan limit?
The free Hobby plan includes 3 pull-request reviews per month. Once you've used them, reviews pause until the counter resets next month. You can upgrade to Pro at any time for unlimited reviews.
How do I cancel or downgrade?
Easy: just one click in the billing portal. You'll keep Pro features until your paid period ends, then switch to the Free plan.
Where can I get help if I'm stuck?
You can reach out to our support team anytime: just email us at support@gitreviewed.com. We're here to help!
